Writing/Book Clubs

Wisppal was built for writers like you. Whether you're uploading a full-length novel or a short zine, this section will guide you through sharing your work with the community.
Types of Clubs

On Wisppal, you can create three types of clubs:

  • Public: Public clubs appear on the /clubs page and in search results. They are also indexable by search engines, meaning anyone can discover them online.
  • Private: Private clubs also appear on the /clubs page and in search results. They are not indexable by search engines, and the club's content and member list are hidden. Only members of the club can view posts and see who belongs to the club.
  • Unlisted: Unlisted clubs do not appear on the /clubs page and will not appear in search engines. They are not indexable. Club posts and member lists are hidden, meaning only members who have joined the club can view the content.
Member Approval Settings:

When creating a club, you can choose whether members need approval to join.

  • Approval Required: Admins must approve a member's request before they can join the club.
  • No Approval Required: Any Wisppal member can join the club instantly.

Please note: You must be logged into Wisppal to join a club.

Creating a post

Club members and admins/moderators can create posts within the club.

There are three types of posts:

  • Discussion: Create a standard post with a title and description.
  • Poll: Create a post with a title, description, and multiple poll options that members can vote on.
  • Feature Book/Movie: Upload an image (JPG or PNG) - typically a book cover or movie poster (but it can be any image), along with a title and description.

Please note, poll options can not be edited once created - so you will need to delete the post if you want to edit the poll options.

Once a post is published, club members can:

  • Like the post
  • Comment on the post
  • Reply to comments
  • Vote in polls (for poll posts)
Poll Rules:
  • Members can vote once per poll.
  • Only the first vote counts.
  • Votes cannot be changed or removed.

Poll options cannot be edited after the post is created. If you need to change them, you must delete the post and create a new poll.

Editing or Deleting Posts:

Post creators can edit or delete their posts.

  • Visit the post page.
  • Click "Edit" or "Delete."

Please note: Poll options cannot be edited after creation.
